Andy Reid is staying with Charlton this season in an effort to try and help the Addicks gain automatic promotion.

Alan Pardew told Charltons website: "Andy will be real quality in this division. He's played one game for me and his loss was a real blow to our efforts in staying in the Premier League. Hes been out for nearly 2 seasons. He is very motivated to do well for us."

Richard Dunne has welcomed Sven Goran Eriksson as the new Manchester City boss. He feels it has shifted the attention from the players to the former England manager.

He said: "Media attention is what you get when you have a high-profile manager. He takes all the spotlight off the players.

"There are no superstars in our team and we're quite happy to get along with what we do and leave the manager to take all the pressure off us."

Meanwhile Lifford born shot stopper Shay Given has revealed he hopes to stay with the Toon Army for the rest of his career. He celebrated 10 years at the club when he joined from Blackburn Rovers on July 14th 1997.

He told Newcastle World TV :

"I've got four years left on my contract and I'll definitely be here for them and hopefully a few beyond that, but we'll have to se how the body holds up before we start talking another 10."

Given is only 83 appearances behind club record holder and fellow goalkeeper Jimmy Lawrence who turned out 496 times for the Magpies.

Given said:

"It would be marvellous to pass the appearance record for both club and country, but you cant look to far ahead, just look at last season with my injuries.
