The Republic of Irelands latest re-match with giant killers Cyprus is set to take place on Wednsday the 15th of October. The latest injury doubts are Liam Miller who missed Sunderlands weekend game. Steve Finnan is already sidelined with a calf injury in his first game for his new club Espanyol. Stephen Reid will not feature which is a blow to both club and country.

Better news for the Republic is that the rock in defence Richard Dunne will not miss the game through injury. Damien Duff scored his first goal for Newcastle this season and looks set to be ready for the game. Ireland will want to wash away the memories of the 5-2 away defeat and Stauntons final game in charge the 1-1 draw at home to Cyprus last year.
