Hunts signs a new deal

Republic of Ireland midfielder Stephen Hunt has signed a new deal with Reading that will see him at the Berkshire club until 2012. Hunt had been linked with Premiership moves to Spurs or Everton but he has signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract. This is a major coup for Reading boss Steve Coppell. He has won 14 International caps,and is in the Ireland squad for the World Cup qualifier against Georgia.

"I've always said that I'm very happy here and signing this contract shows my commitment," 28-year old Hunt told the club's official website on Wednesday.

"I'm determined to have a big impact in the next three months and help get this club promoted.

"The next seven or eight games are very important; we need to get as many points on the board as possible by the end of March to put us in a strong position for the run-in."
