Hunt annoyed over Lapira Cap

Stephen Hunt has questioned why Joseph Lapira an American College Soccer player was capped in the U.S. tour. Hunt asked why his brother Noel among other players weren't given a cap ahead of an amateur. In what can only be described as a dig at manager Steve Staunton hunt felt Lapiras lack of experience in professional football meant he didn't deserve to be capped.

He told the Irish Independent:

"You go away to America and you have a certain person getting caps and he hasn't even played in England, Ireland and Scotland, he hasn't even played full time and he's wearing the green jersey. It's a little bit harsh," said Hunt.

"From Noel's side there was a lot of strikers in the Ireland squad already but when you see someone coming in from America you do ask questions. I can't say anything against Lapira but Noel was capable of being in the squad."

His relationship with Staunton may suffer because of his honesty, but with Duff out injured for the forseeable future they may have to take each others point of view on board.
