Manchester City defender Richard Dunne will join the squad later this morning for training while Nottingham Forest defender John Thompson, called up for a possible first cap, enjoyed some of Sunday's training session.

Manager Brian Kerr has insisted that, as this is the first game since he took over last January that does come before a competitive fixture, he intends to use the opportunity to give less experienced players a chance.

Cardiff's Graham Kavanagh has been given the green light to start in midfield with Andy Reid and Stephen McPhail of Nottingham Forest, plus Blackburn's Steven Reid all due to get a run out at some stage.

Kerr explained, 'After the World Cup, we lost some experienced players and players who were involved in the World Cup are now not so involved. There are a lot of players in the squad are what I’d call 79-82 birthdays and they need experience,' he added.
