Shay Given is fast becoming a favourite of Irish boss Giovanni Trapattoni. The Donegal native made some great saves but it was his stunning stop in the second half of the Montenegro game when Stevan Jovetic's deflected drive looked certain for the bottom corner before his agility prevented a certain goal.
Trapattoni said
"When I saw that deflection going in by the post the other night, I thought 'it's a goal, but then zoom, Given is there and he saves.
"For me Shay is one of the best. Second only to Buffon or even the same as Buffon. He has personality, he is explosive and he is the quiet commander of the team."
