Finnan returns

Tonight Limerick born fullback Steve Finnan will win his 51st senior Irish cap against Norway after doing a U-turn on his International retirement.

His Liverpool future however looks bleak as reds boss Rafael Benitez signed Philipp Degen and Andrea Dossena in the summer. Finnan was out of the Liverpool squad for the game against Sunderland. He has not featured in the past 6 Liverpool games and it looks like he will move on.

He said

"I think limbo sounds about right. I haven't got a clue where I stand, I've not played many games recently.

"I've spoken to Benitez about it but I don't want to say too much more. I've been fit but I just haven't played in the last half dozen games."

Meanwhile current Liverpool new boy Robbie Keane has welcomed back Finnan.

He said

"Anyone would want a player of Steve Finnan's calibre in their team.

"It's great to have him back in the squad. He's a top defender, he's great going forward, comfortable on the ball and has lots of experience."
