Fifa rankings table

The Republic of Ireland are up one place to 41st without kicking a ball in anger. In new Irish manager Giovanni Trapattoni's first games in charge the Irish side are in 41st place and are level with Chile.

Ireland's first competitive opponents Georgia and Montenegro are placed 81st and 150th.

The top three are unchanged with Argentina top and Brazil in second spot. Ireland's World Cup opponents and current World Champions lie in third spot Italy.
