Ireland somehow managed to remain in the same place despite 3 draws and a loss over the past month and a half.
Northern Ireland are 5 places below them in 37th place whilst Wales are 26 behind in a lowly 58th-ranked. Ireland will play their Celtic cousins in Cardiff in mid November
England dropped 2 places into 11th spot but braveheart Scotland climb one place to their highest ever world ranking 13th and one which comes just 30 months after they were ranked their worst ever 88th.
Argentina are top as they have started out of the blocks fast in World Cup qualification. Brazil are in second. World champions Italy are third and Germany are into fifth place following their qualification for Euro 2008 in the Croke Park draw and the home defeat to the Czech Republic.
