Sir Alex Ferguson has highlighted the pitfalls of international managment for new Irish boss Trapattoni. He feels the present Irish squad is too young to make an impression on the next World Cup campaign. Ferguson thinks the Italian will need time and patience for the current squad to mature.

Speaking in Dublin on Wednesday Fergie said

"Trapattoni's experience and CV are outstanding but that's no guarantee because any manager has got to have a nucleus of quality players to work with.

"A few years ago the quality of the Irish squad was very good and put them in a good position, but the present squad seems too young. He's going to need to be given time and patience to develop them."
