"We've got to be realistic," said the former club striker, in the aftermath of Shels' excellent display in a 0-0 draw with La Liga side Deportivo, "this isn't a competition we can win but the Premier Division is. We've a bigger game now to contend with down in Cork in a few days time."
"I was delighted with the players' performances. The only disappointment being the ten minutes after half time when they came back into it. We held out and they looked like they were happy to take a nil-all back to their home patch to win it over there," he continued, "but we're capable of going there and getting a result too."
Fenlon praised lone striker Glen Fitzpatrick, the former Shamrock Rovers favourite, who ploughed through a mountain of off-the-ball work before being taken off on the hour. "The balls going into Glen in the first half were a little deep but he did well. It's a hard job on your own but the plan was to change him after a while. We looked dangerous when we broke with Jason there in the second half too. It's a tremendous night for the league and a credit to everyone involved in it."
