The FAI are in no major rush to appoint a new manager according to their statement released on Tuesday evening. Delaney had already suggested that the new man may not be in place until close to the friendly with Brazil. Some fans and media alike are already convinced its just another FAI smokescreen. They feel Terry Venables is already set to suceed Stauntons seat but the FAI are thinking in a different manner.

The statement said

"It was agreed at the meeting that the process be moved forward by meeting with the proposed members of the panel drawn up to assist with the recruitment. The purpose of this meeting will be to outline the conditions and terms of reference for the new senior international team manager and answer any questions the people involved in the selection process may have.
"While the Board considers it preferable to have a new manager in place before the February friendly with Brazil it will be emphasised to the recruitment panel that making the best possible appointment is the priority for Irish football."
