The FAI has announced that their AGM will take place in Killarney Co. Kerry on the 7th July.

While normally the Merrion Square annual back-slapping gala rarely produces anything news worthy the AGM will be the centre-piece of a week-long festival of football.

The football festival organised in conjunction with the Kerry Football Partnership will celebrate football in the South-West.

Speaking on the FAI's website Chief Executive John Delaney said,

"Previous AGMs tended to pass unnoticed in the towns and counties which hosted them."

"We have decided to use them as an opportunity to showcase football in the host area and I am delighted that the Kerry Football Partnership has embraced the idea."

Chairman of the Kerry Football Partnership John O'Regan outlined some of the events that would be taking place and some of the Irish football luminaries that would be in attendance,

"We will have many of the international managers including Stephen Staunton and Don Givens, plus the likes of the FAI's Technical Director, Packie Bonner, with us for the week."

Around 250 delegates from all levels of football in Ireland are expected to attend, and a Football Village similar to those seen at the major golf tournaments will be erected in Killarney town centre. The AGM, which will be the culmination of the week's celebration, will take place at noon on 7th July at the Malton Hotel.
