Kerr talked of his pride in hearing of such news at today's press conference.
'I am sure there are no worries with the security aspect,' said Kerr. 'The Swiss police needn’t have any worries whatsoever about where our people are going to sit and whether or not they can sit beside Swiss people.'

'They should have no fears whatsoever that our people will be well behaved and any suggestion that if they haven’t got tickets for the Irish end they shouldn’t be allowed in is bunkum – let them in.

'In other sporting events in Ireland we can have 80,000 people supporting four different teams all mixed in together and there is never any bother.

'I am delighted that so many are here and have been prepared to travel without a ticket and take the chance that they might pick one up – I am sure we’ll end up with more than 3,000 in the ground.

'We generally have massive crowds at away games, much above what most countries bring to away games. I used to travel with the supporters a lot and I know how nice it is to enjoy the banter.'

He added: 'The fans who travel away tend be that little bit more mad about the team and they understand the intricacies of the game and when the team need them.

'I am delighted to see so many people have come for the last game of the group. It makes a big difference to the team to know they have a passionate crowd behind them.'

Kerr has had to delay telling his players the team for tomorrow night as he sweats on the fitness of Matt Holland.
