Dunne wins the player of the year award

Richard Dunne must have felt proud after winning the FAI player of the year award last night. He was still pulling no punches after getting the award at the FAI's yearly special on Sunday night.

The 28-year-old Centre back told eleven-a-side.com about the manager situation

"Most of the players are upset to be honest. It's been so many months and it's the wrong way to go about things.

"We've got three games, maximum, before the World Cup starts. We should have a manager in for them. We should have had a manager two weeks ago to pick the squad for the Brazil game. But we don't. It's mad.

"I know there are [players considering their future]. The longer it goes on, if the FAI can't get themselves a manager, why should the players train hard and try hard and do everything, when it's not done right for us?

"It needs to be sorted out before there are more people go the way of Steve Finnan and Andy O'Brien. It's annoying more so because no one knows what's going on.

"You keep hearing reports that it will be sorted this week or next week - they're saying now in the next ten days - so we'll just wait and see."
