Duff going nowhere, say Chelski

There has been media speculation over the last 24 hours that as Chelsea prepare to launch an audacious bid for England wonderkid Wayne Rooney, Duff and his Chelski conterpart Scott Parker could be used as makeweights in the deal.

Howerver the club has released the following statement: "Following media speculation this morning regarding the possible transfers of Damien Duff and Scott Parker, the club would like to make clear that both players will remain important members of the Chelsea squad and team".

It had prevoiusly been thought that Duff would leave the north london club when former boss concluded a deal with PSV Eindhoven for promising Dutch winger Arjen Robben. Robben has wowed audiences at Euro 2004 and many believe he may keep Duff out of Jose Mourinho's plans for the coming season.
