With Flood supporting Liverpool since childhood, the 19-year-old will need no additional motivation should he be given the nod against United.
"It would mean a lot to play against United," said Flood.
"I have never liked them, never been a fan of theirs. So, hopefully, we can get three points against them."
Manager Kevin Keegan is backing Flood to thrive in the Old Trafford cauldron, despite his tender years.
"Playing at Old Trafford will not faze Willo at all," said Keegan.
United have been somewhat off the pace in The Premiership of late, however they returned to form with a 4-1 win over Sparta Prague in the UEFA Champions League.
Despite this, Under 21 coach Don Givens isn't so sure about Willo Flood's quick rise to prominence.
Flood hit the headlines on Monday night when taking just 11 minutes of his first Premiership start to open his Manchester City account.
That catapulted the 19-year-old right winger into the spotlight, with speculation growing that he will be rewarded with a first call to Brian Kerr’s senior squad for the meeting with Croatia on November 16th.
There is no under-21 match fixed for that week, meaning that Flood could well make the squad, but Givens, while heaping praise on Flood’s character, insists the young Dubliner is still raw at the top level.
He said: “What has happened is that Willo has taken a step. He is still a relative newcomer to this level. But he is a great kid, who loves football and wants to be a footballer because he loves the game, not because of the readies that are available. He is the kind of player supporters love because he rattles into everything."
