The Setanta Cup semi-final in Richmond Park drew up two off the Eircom Leagues heavyweights St Patricks Athletic against Drogheda United. The Inchicore side were dominant in the first half with numerous chances missed. The second period saw the Louthmen create more chances but it wasn't until added time at the end of the 90th minute that the game exploded. Simon Webb pushed forward for Drogheda and was fouled by Saints defender Anto Murphy. Stuart Byrne took a good penalty, but Goalkeeper Barry Ryan saved brilliantly to send the tie into extra time.

In the extra 30 minutes both sides had chances but the dominant side looked to be the away side. In the second period of extra-time the ball was played forward and broke to man of the match Eamonn Zayed who thundered home a left foot volley past the hapless keeper Ryan into the right hand corner of the St Pats net. It was a wonderful effort that would grace any occasion, but more importantly it sends Drogheda into the final. It was a remarkable effort by Drogheda considering they are missing at least 10 first team squad members. They will face either Linfield or Cork City in the final due to take place at Tolka Park on Saturday the 12th of April
