Doyle astonished at Cork quartet

Kevin Doyle says the Cork four playing in the giants Stadium on Wednsday is like a fairytale. Doyle along with former Cork pair Shane Long and Alan Bennett played in the Ecuador match with current City star Joe Gamble making his Irish debut as a full international.

And Doyle said he can't really believe how far the four players have come since they played together for City. He said: "Two years ago we're all in Cork together and I don't think anyone would have even bothered putting a bet on us all being here in the States playing for Ireland.

"It's a fairytale story in many respects. A few years back we're all going for the league me, Benno and Joe. Shane was a young lad and not playing many games."

"The four of us were playing for Cork City then and here we are now, playing in America in a stadium like that representing our country. I can't believe it to be honest."

Doyle scored Ireland's equalising goal in Wednesday night's 1-1 draw with Ecuador in New York.
