Spurs medical staff confirmed this morning that Keane suffered a knock to the head against the Gunners, and is still suffering from head aches and general soreness in that area.
Shelbourne striker Byrne is currently on a goal-a-game ratio in the eircom Premier Division and could feature at some stage, with on-form Birmingham striker Clinton Morrison and Cardiff's Alan Lee set to start up front.
Celtic midfielder Liam Miller has also been rumoured to be starting tomorrow against the Poles for the first time in his short international career.
"It’s an opportunity for some of the younger players to get a chance and for us to expand the squad of players," said Brian Kerr this morning.
"I’ve brought some players in who are probably surprised that I’ve brought them in but I believe that they have the potential to be top players in a couple of years."
"It’s also a chance to play an away game," he added, "we’ve done very well in the home games but away games bring about different challenges and different tasks. It’s an opportunity to get used to playing away games away from the comfort zone where we have the home crowd behind us."
Kerr was adamant though that he would like to come away from the 5pm kick-off tomorrow with a decent result against a side he rates highly. "I’d like a good result. Poland have been rebuilding since the World Cup but they are a very good team. The Poles look a very strong team with good attacking players as they showed by beating Italy last November."
With rumours abating about the possible line-up, atogb goes for:
4-4-2: Shay Given; John O'Shea, Ian Harte, Kenny Cunningham, Andy O'Brien; Steven Reid, Mark Kinsella, Liam Miller, Andy Reid; Clinton Morrison, Jason Byrne.
* Manchester United skipper Roy Keane was told by Irish medical staff not to risk his hamstring injury following Monday's training session.
