Doolin: There's everything to play for

The Drogs, who lost out to a Sean Dillon extra-time winner three days ago, return to Premier Division action tonight against champions Shelbourne (kick-off 7.45pm, Live RTE 2) - having lost their last two league games to Carlsberg Cup finalists Longford and Waterford.

Add in the fact that they are winless at United Park in their last three outings, and Doolin has a fair task on his hands.

"The Shelbourne match is a huge one for us," said Doolin, on the club website. "It's live on television with us in second place, and facing the league leaders and Champions elect."

His opposite number, Pat Fenlon - a former club colleague at Tolka Park - looks likes fielding an unchanged side, despite a surprise 2-0 loss to Derry at home.

"It's the first time this season that we had eleven players that didn't perform," said Fenlon of Monday's defeat - only Shels' fourth loss of the season.

Doolin, who has a full-strength squad, knows it could be make-or-break for the Drogs' European hopes, as they face into their final seven games, with trips to Derry, Shamrock Rovers and Longford to follow.

"This season, compared to last season, we have hoovered between leading the League and being second or third compared to being is a relegation fight last season. This will be a big match for the club and the players - their first time on live TV. They were shattered after the Cup defeat but they know they need to rally.

"There is no doubt that Shelbourne are the classiest and most well-organised team in the league, having done us proud in Europe and I'm sure they are already making plans to improve on this next season.

"But we have come a long way in the last twelve months and we will be trying to get something out of this match, and with only eight games left, we have everything to play for."
