Delaney Unable To Help Stan

The Irish manager was sent from the dugout in the 75th minute of Irelands defeat by Germany after he kicked a bottle of water in frustration and berated the referee when a penalty appeal was turned down.

Cantalejo showed no hesitation in dismissing Staunton, whose anger boiled over further as he made his way towards the tunnel, ripping his accreditation from around his neck and tossing it away.

Staunton faces a possible two-match ban which may see him confined to the stands for the next qualifying games in Cyprus and home to the Czech Republic on October 7 and 11 respectively.

Although Delaney is unable to offer any input into proceedings, with an outcome likely to be announced later this week, he did make the comment that he 'has no problem with passion'.
