Steve Staunton has called up Cork City midfielder Joe Gamble for the forthcoming friendly games in the USA at the end of the month.

The uncapped 25 year old will join up with the rest of the Ireland squad for the games against Ecuador on May 23rd and Bolivia on May 26th.

Gamble was part of the squad that lost 1-0 to Chile last summer, and earned a 'B' cap in the drab 0-0 draw with Scotland in Dalymount Park last November.

It will come as a blow to Cork City boss Damien Richardson, who must now prepare for crucial matches versus Bohemians and Bray Wanderers without his midfield general.

Aston Villa left-back Stephen O'Halloran has also been included in the squad. The 19 year old Cobh native has represented his country at all underage levels, and his inclusion brings the number of uncapped players to 11.
