CAS Reject Rebels Appeal

Cork City must wait until July before Colin Healy and Gareth Farrelly can make their debuts, after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected their appeal.

Both players were in attendance at the hearing in Lausanne, Switzerland, along with manager Damien Richardson and Cork's legal team.

FIFA were criticised by the CAS for their poor application of the relevant rules, but still proceeded to back the governing body.

However, no costs were ordered in favour of FIFA, or against Cork, which proved the strength of the Rebel's case.

Manager Richardson, who now must do without the pair for their FAI Cup clash with Shelbourne at Tolka Park on Friday evening, could not hide his disappointment.

"The human aspect to this case should not be forgotten," he said. "Gareth Farrelly stated his profound dismay at this further delay to his debut for the club, while Colin Healy reiterated his sense of anticipation at representing Cork City FC at the earliest possible moment."
