Scheduled to begin in March, Ireland have been grouped with hosts Portugal, Mexico and Slovakia, with the winner of the Group going forward to compete against one of the top nations in the world.

International Manager, Noel King expressed his satisfaction with the development,

"This invitation is a measure of the progress we are making, as the hosts feel we will contribute to keeping the standards high. Also and probably more important is the fact that we have been able to accept the invitation, This reflects the fantastic support the women's game is getting from the Football Association of Ireland and it is vital for the continued development of the game. There are more women playing then ever before and the numbers are continuing to grow," concluded King.

With Ireland having recently moved up the FIFA rankings from 35 to 32nd they will be anxious to maintain and indeed improve on that status.

Mexico are ranked 26th in the world and will start as Group favourites. They will also attract a lot of media attention due to the fact that they will have new 14 year old sensation Charlin Corral in their ranks. Charlin has only burst onto the International stage and is currently being hailed as potentially one of the greatest ever talents in the women's game.

Noel King will announce his squad to take part in the prestigious Algarve Cup within the next week.
