this triumph.
Striker Hoey shot home the winner from the edge of the six yard box after 15
minutes when United Goalkeeper Linda Meehan could only palm Clodagh
Mullholland's high cross into her path.
It was rough justice on Meehan who moments earlier had done brilliantly to
stretch across her goal and save Grace Murray's long-range free-kick.
Dundalk began the brighter and might have the lead inside two minutes had
Claire Ryan's lob from 25 yards evaded Keeper Meehan, but the custodian
retreated and grabbed the ball out of the air.
Peamount were the better team in the second half but couldn't convert their
dominance into many goal-scoring chances.
Strikers Katie Taylor and Sarah Lawlor were influential for them but the
solid
forwards at bay.
The closest they came to finding an equaliser arrived midway through the
second period when Ashling Toolan was left unmarked in the penalty area from
a Rachael Jenkins corner but the full-back saw her header safely gathered by
’keeper Janine Pepper.
Sarah Lawlor did create an opportunity for herself with six minutes left
when she sprinted down the right flank into a great goal-scoring position.
Her resultant shot had the necessary weight but marginally missed the target
and ended up in the side-netting.
For champions
with her driving runs and incisive passing.
Her team now go forth to next seasons' Women's UEFA Champions League as
representatives of the FAI.
