Stokes a Hibee

Last updated : 21 August 2009 By Paul Jennings
Anthony Stokes has moved back to Scotland to join Hibernian F.C. He has left Sunderland in what can only be described as a bleak period in the players career. No fee has been mentioned but Stokes who joined Sunderland from Arsenal for £2M in January 2007 has been unhappy at Sunderland for a long time.

He will join up again with Hibs boss John Hughes, who had Stokes on loan at Falkirk before he moved to Sunderland. He scored an impressive 14 goals in 16 games and will hope to regain that form and push on for a place in the Ireland team.

Stokes told www.hibs.co.uk

"I'm absolutely delighted to be joining Hibernian and particularly pleased to be working with John Hughes again. I know how the manager works and I'm looking forward to producing my best for him and for the team."

Hibernian Manager John Hughes dais on www.hibs.co.uk

"Anthony has got bags of talent and I can't wait to start working with him again. He has scored goals in the SPL before and I'm certain that he will score goals again. I see him as a great addition as we continue to develop the squad."
