Given wants silverware

Shay Given left Newcastle in the January transfer window under a cloud. He felt betrayed by the club he had spent 12 seasons at when his move came down to how much Newcastle could squeeze out of Manchester City for their brilliant net minder. Givens reason for wanting out was simple, he wnts medal before his career ends. Manchester City have the money like Chelsea did a few season ago and this helped them land Shay Given.
The UEFA Cup is on this week with Manchester City leading their first leg against Aalborg 2 nil but needing to remain calm. A last 8 tie is on the cards and Given has no doubts about the weaker competition in Europe.
He said
"People belittle it, but if we win the Uefa Cup we'll be on cloud nine. Coming here was a fresh challenge. I'd love to have won something at Newcastle but it didn't work out."
